Photographic Courses and Training Workshops/Sessions

I run regular workshops and training sessions for photographers, whether at a beginner/amateur level or professional and for societies and clubs. Workshops and sessions usually consist of a small group of photographers being given first hand practical experience shooting on-location (or in a studio) with a review and post-processing session at a later date.

Courses/workshops that are currently available are:

From £125ppDeposit: £50The Long Exposure Workshop is a practical on-location experience of using 10-stop filters to achieve extremely long exposures landscape and seascape images.

It is a full day workshop and we take in a variety of locations.

  • Maximum group of six
  • Follow-up post-processing session

Smaller workshops lasting half-days and for specific groups can be arranged – just get in touch to discuss a custom workshop.

These have been extremely popular, and the cost per person is very reasonable. I am also happy to arrange workshops/sessions with a group that has pre-arranged up to a maximum of six participants. This is to ensure each person gets a fair amount of my time on the day and for any questions and feedback.

Presentations to Clubs/Societies

To date, I have travelled across the country delivering lectures and presentations at various clubs and societies on my photographic work. From discussing my work and how I achieved the results, with specific details on settings/process, to providing feedback and how-to videos on post-processing in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

I am able to tailor the length of the presentations to the timings of your club, with a break midway or at the end and leave ample time for questions through-out.

I charge a very reasonable fee and my expenses are only for travel to and back from the venue (at cost).

The following talks/presentations and workshops are available for photographic/camera clubs:

This presentation starts of with some examples of my commercial work to show the variety of work that I carry out and then shows the long exposure images that I produce.

I then lead onto the extreme/very long exposures explaining the process of shooting these types of images. I cover the settings used to shoot the images and the length of exposure of each.

Questions are welcome at any point throughout the presentation as well as at the end.

In preparation of this, I request a variety of RAW images from as many members as possible so that I can go through different types of images (landscape, portrait, still life etc) and demonstrate the process from converting from RAW to the adjustments in Lightroom/Photoshop.

I prepare several images in advance of the night and record these to make the videos available to the members for download/viewing whilst actually going through the process live on the club night itself with different images.

This way there are many images that I have processed for members to refer too and put into practice themselves.

This presentation covers the basics of selling/marketing your images online through social media in order to get your work seen.

I describe the options/software and tools available that for minimal cost will give you the biggest return on investment.

I will also discuss the options for setting up your website and why it can be your biggest promotional entity.

This workshop can be held on your regular club night (although only during nights when sunset is later in the evening) or on a weekend and is similar to my regular workshop above.

The main differences are that:

  • The session is for a shorter period of 3-4 hours
  • No transport or meals are included
  • Shooting location is closer to your venue/members
  • Larger group size of twelve

If there are more members of your club that are interested than I can offer a discount – please get in touch to discuss further.

If you wish to see references for the clubs that I have visited and presented at to get an idea of how my presentations have been received, then please contact me and I will be more than happy to put you in touch.

Please note, that I only have availability for a limited number of presentations each year so cannot guarantee availability unless booked well in advance.
