Longniddry on the East Lothian coast is one of those amazing places where you can always find something to photograph, from the sea defences to the wreck on the beach and not forgetting the Edinburgh skyline (albeit from a distance!).

Broughty Ferry lies on the mouth of the River Tay and has excellent views of Fife and back onto Dundee and the Tay Road/Rail Bridges.

I headed along to Arbroath today knowing the winds were very strong and that combined with high tide would make interesting photos at the harbour/seafront.

On a recent visit to Loch Earn a few weeks ago, I was hoping that the jetty I photographed the last time had it's wooden boards returned and the trip paid off!

Beadnell is a small village on the beautiful Northumberland coast and has the only west-facing port on the east coast of England making it a great spot to catch the sunset from the harbour.

Some of the best images are taken when the photographer is in the right place at the right time. Sometimes this is down to pure luck and other times it is down to meticulous planning, patience and persistence.

Was passing this area in Dysart, Kirkcaldy on the way home when the sunset was looking promising so couldn't resist stopping!
