Loch Earn Approaching Storm
Loch Earn is a freshwater loch in the districts of Perth and Kinross and Stirling. It hosts a variety of water sports activities and you can often see water skiing and jet bikes in action.
As the weather was glorious in Dundee on Saturday, I headed out to Loch Earn after seeing the forecast for rain and clouds. You may be wondering why I would go there instead of the blue skies of Dundee? Well, as we photographers know all to well, stormy skies more often than not make more interesting photos especially if the conditions are just right.
99% percent of the time it just pours with rain and you don’t get the image you had hoped for but then that 1% of the time when everything comes together and you get that image you were after – it makes it all worthwhile.
This is one of those occasions where everything was just perfect. The sun was coming and going, the gales were blowing and the waves were pounding the shoreline with such ferocity. I waited, hoping for a break in the clouds right down the middle of the loch and then everything just came together. The rays of the sun started to light up the side of the mountains in the distance and I wasted no time capturing the moment.
Next time, I will have to remember to ask for the lottery win too!
